If you have received a TNC, it is very important that you follow the steps described in the Further Action Notice that you will receive from your employer. A TNC means that the information your employer entered in E-Verify from your Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, did not match available records. Occasionally, an employer may inform you that your E-Verify case received a Tentative Nonconfirmation (TNC). When that happens, the employer closes the case and no further action is required. In most cases when an employer creates an E-Verify case query, E-Verify responds with the phrase “Employment Authorized” within seconds.
